What Is the Mr. D1 Award?
The Mr. D1 Award recognizes outstanding Illinois youth football athletes for performance, leadership, sportsmanship and impact on the field. The 2026 Spring Mr. D1 race begins with community nominations, advances to D1 Illinois-approved finalists and concludes with live community voting.

D1 Illinois Diamonds All-Star Cheer
Registration is open for athletes ages 5–17. The cheer program includes practice and competition uniforms, a warmup suit, bag and bow.

Joe Cook
Joe Cook is one of the driving forces behind D1 Illinois and a strong advocate for youth athlete exposure across the state. He is known for building opportunities that connect football families to rankings, spotlight events, All-Star experiences and meaningful recognition for young athletes.
Along with his leadership in D1 Illinois, Joe has built a reputation through coaching, program development and community-centered sports leadership. From helping lead the Englewood Lions to creating statewide opportunities like Friday Night Lights, the Mr. D1 Award and All-Star promotion, his goal is simple: create bigger stages, stronger visibility and more chances for Illinois kids to be seen, respected and celebrated.
